Street Performers Week will be performed during lunchtimes between the dates of 22-26th of October in Term 4 for all Year 6 students to participate in.
We will be raising money for young people diagnosed with cancer from 12 years old and beyond.
Year 6 students will be selling CanTeen bandanna's during this week for $5 each. Once a student has purchased their bandanna, they may watch any of the street performances during this week by wearing or showing their bandanna support.
The official CanTeen Bandanna Day is on Friday 26th of October (our last day of street performing.) We aim to sell as many bandanna's to raise awareness for CanTeen as possible and have as many students from school wearing their bandanna's by 26th of October...Including our wonderful YEAR 6 Students!! Yes, we would like our Year 6 students to get behind the cause and show their support for our chosen charity by purchasing and wearing one of CanTeen's bandanna's throughout Street Performer's week. So get saving those pennies for our wonderful cause...
We Want YOU!!
In groups of 6-8 students you will compile an original item over the next 6 weeks during drama lessons at school. You may choose to rehearse your act at home with friends, during recess or lunch, after school or on the weekends.
Task: To plan, rehearse and perform an original street performance for our charity week in Term 4.
You MUST script your original work OR write a structure/plan for your story dance or music piece.
Each item will be 5 minutes in length. NO more and NO less...
There will be several opportunities for extra job opportunities throughout the week such as: Bandanna Sellers, Compering, Stage Hands, Crowd Dancers and PA announcement people.
There will be a job for everyone and ALL Year 6 students will be taking part as this will go to your final grades.
Stage Blacks
On your performance day you will be wearing 'stage blacks' as a base for your costume. Accessories and props are allowed to 'jazz up' your character and make your performance piece come alive.
If you are in 'crowd dancers' and performing each day, then you will wear blacks each lunchtime.
You will ONLY be wearing your 'blacks' to perform in at lunch time. You MUST bring your school uniform to change into afterwards.
Please read the appropriate stage black attire below...

Story Dancers
Play Performers

Crowd Dancers
Crowd Dancers will be used to wrap up each day's street performances... You may be in one of the above acts as well as being involved as a 'crowd dancer'. If you decide to be a Crowd Dancer you MUST dance in every song on each day to get the crowd pumping... You may use Miss Stanton's room for rehearsals leading up to the performances.
Crowd dancing is the most popular item on each day and a lot of fun. We want YOU to be involved!
